ANU Arabic students study abroad
Thursday 27 February 2014

Students studying Arabic at the Centre for Arab and Islamic Studies are able to take an Applied Arabic course as part of their program. This year CAIS students travelled to and studied at both Zayed University in the United Arab Emirates and Nizwa University in the Sultanate of Oman.
The students were accompanied and taught by CAIS Lecturer and Convenor of the Arabic Program Ms Huda Al-Tamimi.
The purpose of such an experience is to learn a language in an emersion context ie in daily life consistently. Students returned to their Arabic classes with an advanced level of both spoken and written Arabic.  In addition to their studies the students had many opportunities to explore both the cities and rural areas of the countries they visited. The students are pictured here in the old market attached to the museum in Dubai.
